The Minister for Finance noted the publication today of the Quarterly National Accounts by the Central Statistics Office and stated:
“Today’s Quarterly National Accounts show the Irish economy returned to growth in the second quarter of 2013, with 0.4% GDP growth recorded.
The Department of Finance has today (29th August 2012) published the General Scheme of the Credit Reporting Bill 2012. The Bill will provide for the establishment and operation of a statutory Central Credit Register (CCR) system in Ireland.
Commenting on the publication of the General Scheme of the Bill, the Minister for Finance, Mr. Michael Noonan, T.D. stated:

01.08.13Minister for Finance commences certain sections of the Credit Union and Co-operation with Overseas Regulators Act 2012
The Minister for Finance, Mr. Michael Noonan, TD, has today signed an Order commencing certain sections of the Credit Union and Co-operation with Overseas Regulators Act 2012. The sections which are commenced are:
(a) sections 4, 7, 14, 32, 34, 36 and 37;
(b) section 31 in so far as it relates to sub sections 1 – 4 of 95A;
30.07.13Appointment of Mr. John Hogan as Head of Banking Policy in Financial Services Division, Department of Finance
Mr. John Hogan has been appointed as Head of Banking Policy in the Financial Services Division in the Department of Finance. John will be responsible for developing and delivering policy in key policy areas such as credit and lending to SME’s, mortgage arrears and consumer issues. John was appointed following a competitive process ran by the Top Level Appointments Committee (TLAC).

The Minister for Finance, Mr Michael Noonan, TD, has signed an Order commencing all sections of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013 from 1 August 2013 with the exception of section 72.
