    The Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen, TD, today (23 May 2005) opened the new State Laboratory at Backweston, Co Kildare.

    The Minister stated that “the relocation of this vital facility has given the staff of the State Laboratory a remarkable opportunity to review in a strategic frame their professional needs for the decades ahead.”

    The Minister for Finance, Mr Brian Cowen, TD, today (20 April 2005) announced the appointment of Mr Finbarr Flood as chairman of the Decentralisation Implementation Group (DIG).

    Mr Flood served as chairman of the Labour Court from 1998 to 2003 having previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Court. He retired as Managing Director of Guinness (Ireland) Ltd in November 1994.
